About Semaglutide

What's actually happening in 2026.

Semaglutide is the active ingredient in Ozempic® (for type 2 diabetes) and Wegovy® (for chronic weight management). Both are made by Novo Nordisk and are currently sold at premium prices because they're under patent protection in Canada.

That patent is approaching expiry in early 2026. Once it lapses, other licensed manufacturers can legally produce generic versions of the same molecule. Historically, generic competition can reduce drug prices significantly within the first year.

We're preparing now so our patients can move first when supply opens up.
